Only thing eventful about this little 4 miler in the 'hood was that it was my first run in the 3's. I don't care how they feel (which seemed pretty good), they look fantastic. Blue and gold has always been my favorite color combo, maybe some geeky thing about that being my high school colors (go Comets! And ironically enough, the school district we live in now also uses the Comets, and they are blue and gold too), though maybe the shoe laces are a bit more limey than gold. Anyway, looking forward to doing more trials with them.

Nice run in some sweet shoes!

Funny, those were my school colors too and the reason I won't wear those colors now ;) I did get my brooks in purple for my college colors, though. I don't think all-girls schools produce the same sense of color-pride.

I like my K 3s as well, although I have the neon green/yellow, color. Nice double today.

it is way more important that the shoes be flashy than functional and it sounds like yours are definitely flashy. Maybe you can send the Nikes back and exchange for a few more pair of those flashy Saucony Kinvaras.
We have a school here that uses comets but instead of blue and gold they are green and gold. Kind of seems like gold is a common color for schools that use comets.

Nice run. I have the same color scheme on my 3's. Feel ok prefer the first and second

Enjoy the new kicks, Stroz. Glad that the color's rockin' too. :o)

Good maiden voyage Greg! Is your bike, who you let me know you've affectionately named The Solon Comet, also same color scheme? I'm guessing probably close...

Interested in seeing how people like the 3s-- my K2s have quite a few miles left on them, but it's just a matter of time...

Awesome! I'm a little wary of the K3s... I have a pair and have put a good amount of miles on them, not completely sold yet.

Thanks all - @Steve, actually my bike is brown, and it's not exactly Comet-like.

@Annie, I was initially liking the K2's, then disliked, now starting to love them - I'd give it a little time and see what you think.

Never tried kinvaras yet, but I'm told I should...they are a more minimal shoe right?! Enjoy your new kicks!

Nice tester Greg. How do the 3's compare to the Fly's. I run in the Fly's occasionally so I know how they feel. Just looking for a comparison. Support, cushion, fit, etc...
9 months ago • Like
@Cindy, they have a lower heel-to-toe drop and less stability support, but are still cushioned. @Fred, these are lighter, I find the fit similar, maybe a hair snugger, and like the lower heel-to-toe drop these days, find I run "quieter" in the 3's than the Fly's.

As long as you look good - that's all that matters :) Problem is - you run too fast!! No one will see your flashy new shoes :)))

Couldn't agree more... the most important thing with shoes is the colour!! :) Nice recovery Greg, good luck going long this weekend!

Sweet color combo! One of my favorites, too, probably b/c I was a Notre Dame fan growing up (have since grown out of that lol). Nice run!!

I like that you named your shoe Comets in the gear section! My HS colors were blue and gold too, I think.

Glad you found a shoe you enjoy so much. Personally, I don't wear flashy shoes in everyday life, but I LOVE loud running shoes. And, as a Brooks guy (duh), I like to rock my red and orange Launches. Unfortunately, they discontinued that color scheme. Anyway, rock on in your new Comets!

Oh and the New Balance 1600, one of my new favorite shoes, is also blue and gold...check them out!

My first pair of K3s were fabulous but just got a new pair and wore them today on their first shortie and wasn't happy. Maybe the bright pink and citron wasn't a good color combo for me! Duh! I always wear pink shoes! Great miles as always Greg!

Nice run Greg. I have the orange, black, and yellow K2's and love them. Not hard to see me in a crowd.

Nice tester! I'm intrigued to try some 3's, but I need to thin out my shoe quiver a bit first.

Awesome run in your new kicks! My high school rival was the comets and they were blue and gold too. :)

Greg....nice test run here, and my school was the Lancers but we also had the blue and gold, so you brought back some memories...

My high school mascot was the comet, and our colors were blue and gold. Apparently there's something to that combination!

I grew up in that area. I moved prior to high school, but attended Erwine Middle School and played football for the Meteors.

What year were you at Erwine, Rick (if you don't mind me asking)? I went to Coventry from K-12.

I graduated in 1997, so I was at Erwine 1993 ish. A little bit younger than you.
