20 min. w/u, 30 min. tempo (6:00 pace), 20 min. c/d. Standard warm-up routine, myrtle cool-down.
Inspired by Caleb M.'s post on the dailymile blog yesterday http://t.co/065FKRF3, I decided to run this tempo by feel. I set the Garmin for a 30 min. interval workout, and then left it on time of day once I started the interval. Wanted to see if I could judge a 6:00 pace. At the end of 30 minutes, the distance was exactly 5 miles, so I guess I nailed it (didn't verify this until after the run though, as I left the watch on time of day through the cool-down).

Good job!

Wow that's a great step... being able to settle into a pre-determind pace by feel alone. Solid volume there too, looking great for this week!

Really nice, Greg! I do miss the pre-Garmin days and probably should go with some of these runs. They are better race preparation, I think, and not so artificially driven.

Good work Greg. Back to good old fashioned running.

Caleb's post is really good agreed. Great job nailing the tempo pace. I haven't tried but from past experience I can almost guarantee that I'd be slower than I think, if I tried the same thing.

Amazing tempo run this morning, Greg! I am utterly blown away that you could dial in a 6 mile pace and be DEAD ON just by feel. You are the Superman of running! Keep up the phenomenal training, your hard work and blog posts inspire us all.

Very impressive to be able to run this tempo blindly. I have a feeling I would have been cheating fast trying not to come in too slow so the fact that you hit it right on is great. Very nice workout.

Who needs the Garmin when you've got the internal clock that works so well? I bet you don't need an alarm either.

Yes, that was a great blog post. Good execution. Your internal pace-o-meter is working perfectly Greg. Gotta love when that starts to happen...even better when it's at blistering paces like yours! :)

Good to see your mileage is paying off with the run by feel ability. I tend to get more of a flow experience running by feel, but I'm not very accurate as the pace gets faster. Need more practice!
Checked out your great hamstring post and am looking forward to trying Cannonball. I started doing MYRTLE last summer when my other leg was off. I love that Coach Jay commented.
