great St. Malachi Simulation 5.01 mi 00:32 06:25 pace

OK Cleveland DMers - I got your St. Malachi for you. Since I can't run the race due to a family commitment, I simulated it tonight. Consider the gauntlet thrown down. Splits were 6:35, 6:16, 6:24, 6:27, 6:25. Now in true St. Malachi tradition, time for a beer or two. Oh, and loved the weather! http://connect.garmin.com/activity/26665716

Wicked fast pace - wish I had some context to the St. Malachi reference. Nice work. Enjoy your sleep!

Just a big 5 mile race in Cleveland sponsored by a downtown church around St. Patrick's day, race is followed by beer. Haven't run it yet, but have heard a lot about it. There's been trash talking going on among some Cleveland runners, so thought I'd through in my 2 cents, as usual.

Man you're fast! I'm pretty sure that would secure you a top 10 finish in your age group. Well Done.

Nothing better than a race followed by some liquid carbs.

Hey, what about the 1/4 mile hill coming out of the flats? Should we bump your last mile avg. up to say.... 6:35, lol!

Greg, AWESOME throw down. Now my goal will just be to have a 6:15 mile, because 32 minutes isn't realistic. I'm "hoping" for 34 and some change.
What kind of beers did you have?
Wish you were going to be there, I'd love to meet the Greg the "Solon Comet"

@ Jason W. - That hill ending is just ruthless, but makes the beer taste better. As the beers flow at McCarthy's that hill goes from 1/4 mile long to 1 mile long! HA

@Jason - fair enough, though I'd argue that's offset by the adrenaline of running against people instead of just the watch. But I'll concede 15 seconds for the hill.
@Nathan - Stuck to just one Lucky U IPA from Breckenridge - very similar to Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA. Not very Irish, I know - I'll stock up on Conway's Irish Ale next week to celebrate my wife's part-Irishness. And I like the nickname - ironically, I grew up as a Coventry (Akron) Comet.

wow greg! you have thrown down a serious gauntlet. now that's walking (err, scratch that) running the talk. i haven't run miles further than 1 like that since high school. and sadly, that was 20+ years ago. hopefully, i will break 38.
