      Always smart to run with someone; hadn't considered a taser, although most of our threats have 4 legs and I'm not sure that would take down a rabid fox or determined coyote.

      Great job. I still struggle with the tempo runs. I almost need to sign up for a weekly race to get the motivation.

      I actually signed up for the DC Road Runners Snowball Series for this reason and make those runs part of longer runs to get tempo runs in. So like my last 17 miler with "12 at marathon pace" run was a 20K race... probably faster than marathon pace but whatever. The races are free to members, it's pretty sweet. BUT they aren't every single week, so I try to make myself tempo on the off weeks.

    Supposed to be a tempo run but I had no will power from the start. 2.5 warm up, 5 miles with a lot of stops to walk to the drinking fountain at 7:26 pace, then 2.5 cool down.
