great Hot Messin' 7.01 mi 01:09 09:53 pace

Mighty, mighty hot out there today! High humidity, a temperature of 78°F and about 83 by the time I stopped. Also, intense noon-time sun— didn't get out until about 11:00 since I ended up on baby duty (tee-hee, dooty!) this morning. I started and finished in the woods, which gave me some wonderful tree cover. Fortunately there's a light breeze today as well. Out on the sandy road and on some dark, new pavement I nearly sweat my face right the heck off. Got a little nauseous in the woods on the way home, but otherwise felt like a champ. Helped that I cruised comfortably the whole way and didn't once even think of pushing the pace. GOOD TIMES!

Nice! Have you guys thought of getting a running stroller so you can take the small one with you?

We have one and I'm very eager to use it! Gotta wait until she's a little older and her neck toughens up so she can better hold her head in place. Probably 1-2 more months.

Are you running that crazy Afton trail race in July?

Great run in that heat! The dark pavement makes things extra toasty; I can't run on it in barefeets, too hot hot hot.

No Afton for me this year, Piet. :( Not for lack of desire either, I wanted some of that 50K action but couldn't make the time to train this spring with a newborn around. Then I decided to skip the 25K as well on account of the cost. I will, however, be running the Moose Mountain Marathon with gusto in September.

Yeah, Jocelyn. I can't sit bare-assed on fresh pavement either. That burns! ;)
