It was 1 degree this morning when I went out for a run after a month off and a week recovering from a cold plus 10 pounds gained (you cannot eat like you run and do not run). I warmed up on the stationary bike for 5 minutes and dressed in layers and wore wool socks. Ice built up on my moustache, but I was dressed in layers and later took off my gloves and cap. Overall not a bad first run for 2010 considering the circumstances.

    Thanks. I got the idea to take a month off from you, but I see that you only took a week off this year. I'm not sure it was good thing. I did not necessarily get more rest, because i ended up staying up later since I did not have to get up so early. My knee is feeling better though and I'm ready to run. I was missing the hour long periods of solitude and benefits of a good workout.

    I got excited about running 1,500 miles for the year, but not running 15 miles a day definitely made my knees feel better!
