blah San Diego Rock n' Roll Marathon 26.38 mi 03:58 09:01 pace

Disappointing run and I didn't hit my goal (3:45) or pr. I was on pace but started too fast the first half. I was supposed to do 8:45's the first half and 8:25's the second, but I got too confident and was doing 8:30's right out the gate. I also did low 8's on a few splits. The heat and humidity was too much and took me by surprise. I was also having gas and stomach pains at the halfway mark. I hit the wall at mile 20 and had to walk several times the remaining 5. I kept looking at my watch and seeing my goal slip away! Oh well, lesson learned. On a good note, it was a nice event and overall I had fun. It was also great to meet other Marathon Maniacs that were there! I hope to do better at SF Marathon!

we were seconds apart!!!! Did you see a crazy girl in a green top, walking, then sprinting, then walking?! That would be me :/
There was NO Fiesta on that Island!!!

Yeah Fiesta Island was the worst part of the race! I don't think I saw you, but I did see Captain America and a guy with a huge inflatable monkey on his back! :)

sorry to hear that alex. the heat and humidity we've been having in CA makes for less than ideal running conditions. but use what you learned from this marathon on your next one and kick some butt! :)

Wow, we had similar time goals (3:40+) and results (3:55 for me). One thing I learned about marathoning is that some days you don't have it - for various reasons. I have learned to recognize it and pull back accordingly - so I do not suffer as much. Another good thing about Maniacing is that there is always next weekend! =) Sorry you didn't get your goal, but there is always the next race. Good luck at SFM. I love that race but am skipping it this year (saving money).

I'm sorry to hear that your race was a disappointment- I had one of those this past weekend as well. Still, as a pretty slow runner, I'm impressed! Plus I'm sure you will meet your goal time soon :)

Don't even worry about it Alex, you have plenty of other races to meet a goal time. Besides you already broke your PR, I mean, we can't all be PR Whores. hahaahah It's time to get ready for SFM!!

The stories are all the same. Goal time for me of 3:42, came in at 3:52. Hated Fiesta Island which added the extra 10 minutes for me. I too saw the diapered guy with the monkey on his back. Hilarious. I was trying to keep up with the American flag bearers, but they took me over the last 2 miles. Ah well, just means I have to run another one this year.
