I’m a planner, perfectionist, and hard on myself if you weren’t aware of that by now. Well, I got knocked down last night. After a tiresome day I bent down to give my kitties a treat & a shooting pain shot up my back nearly paralyzing me. My first reaction was oh Lord no! I had a similar instance during my marathon training. Ugh, maybe when I was pushing it a little too much. Yep, my plan was to get up on Sat and run the Apple Blossom 10K early all by myself. It makes me sad that this didn’t happen, but I do believe that things happen for a reason. Mike, that is why I posted what I did in reply to your 10K post. You are a mart runner and mix things up. I should learn a lesson.

So, I’m at the office for a little while this afternoon now. Before that I went to Target though and bought some of those Thermaheat pads for my back and a heated pad thingy. I also left a message for Dr. D to see if he can fit me in sometime soon. I honestly have not been to see him since January I think just due to watching $.

I’m a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. Saying that God is punishing me is probably a little harsh, but I think He wanted to give me a slap in the face, or maybe back shall I say. I guess I’m not honoring my body when I work it so hard. There was also an instance last night when I saw a friend at a store but went the opposite direction to checkout because I was tried and wanted to get home to start dinner, whereas it probably would have made my friend’s day for me to stop by. As I was leaving her mom saw me, so obviously she’ll probably realize I just didn’t stop to talk.

I’m hoping to get my back better and appreciate the blessing of a healthy body a little bit better. I probably should mix things up so the bulk of my exercise isn’t running only. But, next Tuesday both Rick and I should be off of work & after some morning appointments we were thinking about going to somewhere near Hancock, MD where there’s an awesome biking/running trail that we’ve been to before. We biked last time & this time we thought we could run together. I am going to pray hard for healing so that I’m able to run that with him. Gosh, if you’ve read this far you are a gold start DM friend – thank you for your support!

Smiles :-) Here’s to being healthy!

That stinks! Sorry to hear about your injury. Hopefully, it's just a back spasm that doesn't give you any more problems. Take it easy, get some stretching in, and hopefully you can still do your run on Tuesday.

I'm sorry to hear about your pain/injury. I also think you're way too hard on yourself. Things happen and I doubt it's because you didn't say hi or are working out too much. Stop putting the blame on yourself.
You'll bounce back from this in no time.

Amy, I can totally relate. I have similiar traits. I think it's just a reminder to slow down a tad. Rest up and enjoy the down time. Maybe the kitties can keep you company on the couch..?? As for a fast recovery, IcyHot and I have become fast friends during 1/2 marathon training. I find it works wonders. Kirby and I wish you a speedy recovery. He just jumped up on the couch as I was typing this response. He says hello!
