Great job diving in to your training! I run 4 days/wk but only 2 consecutively and I can feel how much more tired I am on the 2nd day than any other run of the wk. Good for you for being able to do 3 days in a row. And smart of you to move things around as necessary! Good luck!

Susan you hit the nail on the head. Hapkido forms are very similar to Karate Katas with the only difference lying in the martial art style practiced. In fact, I think kata means forms. I think. I'm going now to look up the english translation for kata. :-)

Kathy, I will type up my plan and post it as a note sometime tomorrow. Hal Higdon & Jeff Galloway are both very good plans!! So many people have recommended the plans to me & I have found them both doable. However, instead of just downloading a free plan (or paying for a more custom fit plan) I spent an entire week researching a plan that would work best for me. Ultimately, my plan leans heavily on Hal Higden (75%), with pacing support from the Jeff Galloway plan (20%) and guidance from other plans (5%).

Thank you everyone! :) Frank, I felt overwhelmed and out of place when we first started the run. Everyone was sooooooo much faster than me! I thought OH MY Goodness, what am I doing out here?? Then someone named Thomas slowed his pace and ran with me the ENTIRE time. He ran 9 marathons and he simply enjoyed helping newbies. I could feel a tear well up in my eye...and it almost rolled down my cheek .I learned a lot from him. About 20 ppl ran (guesstimate).

Nice Job:
I get bored on the treadmill myself. I normally listen to my iPod nano when I run on the treadmill. Which helps some on the treadmill. You are doing great. Keep it up before long you will be running 2 miles.

I remember when I first purchased Insanity and P90X. I thought I could do them both at the same time. Yikes!! I was wrong. They both require so much from the body. I'll stick with Insanity for now. :) I like the exteme cardio. If I ever complete the whole plan I'll move to P90x next.

Exercising on an empty stomach has been said to help you burn more fat, BUT you do have to be careful that you have enough protein/energy stored so you can complete your workout successfully if you are going to do that. 8 miles is no piece of cake, so maybe for those longer runs try fueling up with a little something BEFORE you workout that way you're not feeling weak and you can finish STRONG! :)
-
Excellent advice!! Thank you so much Daniele. I am planning a 10 mile run on Friday morning. I will definitely listen and fuel up first so that I have enough energy stored to finish! :-)
