Overall, I feel really good about my first half. My goal was 2:17, and came in a hair under, so happy about that. Heard much faster runners say it was the worst half they'd ever done. 7th place finisher had an IV in her arm afterward. Around 80 degrees I think, and sunny for the first half and last third or so. When cloud cover came through at the halfway point, I was literally thanking God that it did. Refueled at halfway, too, rather than waiting for the Clif Shots they handed out at mile 9. Figured if I refuel at mile 6 or 7 in training, that's what my body will expect. Nothing seized up or hurt during, but the last two miles were tough. Made a deal with myself that if I stopped to walk, I had to be sure to kick it in at the end. So funny how you feel like you've got nothing left, but reach down and come up with that once you see the chute. The idea of doing double that distance doesn't quite horrify me; I know heat shouldn't be such a factor in October. But I also know I have a lot of work to do!
