great Brill long run 19.92 mi 02:35 07:46 pace

I met up with a friend at about the 3 mile mark who's training for London and ran the route with him. Felt really comfortable and although we were probably holding around 8-8:30s for most of the middle section, I had a faster start and finish which lead to an average 7:46.

The miCoach didn't pick up the foot sensor today which was annoying but Phil has a Garmin so he kept a check on pace. Need to figure out what's wrong though because I'm finding it really useful to keep an eye on things whilst I'm running.

Realised last night that I didn't have any gels so I had to make a trip to the garage to get some Lucozade and a bag of Jelly Babies. Worked out a good carb strategy based on about 30g CHO every 40 minutes and 200-250ml fluids every 20 minutes. Seemed to work well because I felt really strong over the last few miles.

    Great Performance:

Wow - great run. I'd love to be able to extend my distance out and keep my pace up at that level. Especially given the effort level you indicated. Hopefully, soon ... though I think it might be more of an effort for me!

Nice run - I love the instant feedback of the garmin but find myself checking it too often on occasion. What was the elevation profile of the run?

Sarb - thanks, it's feeling good at the moment. My goal is to dip under 2:45 in the Florence Marathon this November for the Championship qualifying time for London 2011. So far so good...

Colin - the run was mostly flat but the middle 5 miles or so had some pretty viscious hills in it. We backed off the pace and chatted the whole way round about all sorts of stuff so although the pace varied it was pretty even intensity.
