  1. RUN
    good 9.84 mi 00:58 05:56 pace

Warmed up for about 10 minutes and did another 5 easy at the end, so in the 45 minutes at threshold intensity I ran 8.6 miles.

This is about 5:15 per mile which probably explains why I found mys... read more

  2. RUN
good Reading Half Marathon 13.1 mi 01:30 06:52 pace

I was the 1:30 pace maker for this race so the goal was to get as close to the time as possible. Managed to run within about 30 seconds of target pace the whole way round and it felt pretty comfor... read more

  3. RUN
    alright 21.17 mi 02:39 07:30 pace

Started off feeling really good, but I think I may have been pushing it a bit too hard in some sections as I was feeling it more than I should have for this type of run.

  4. RUN
    alright 4x10min threshold 01:00

10 minute warm up, then 4 x 10 minutes at threshold intensity. I wanted to take the duration down a notch this week as I found it really hard mentally last week with my 25min / 20min threshold run... read more

  5. RUN
    good 22.89 mi 02:29 06:31 pace

Felt pretty good, though took a couple of wrong turns and so didn't have a clue how far I'd gone or how fast I was running. I was aiming for 7:30 per mile so the run turned out to be a little quic... read more

  6. RUN
    good 9.38 mi 01:02 06:37 pace

10 minute warm up then 2 x 20 minutes at threshold intensity with a 2 minute recovery and a 10 minute cool down.

Felt pretty good; first threshold run in quite a while!`

  7. RUN
    good 16.7 mi 02:10 07:47 pace

Felt pretty good, though had to go a bit faster at the start as I was late leaving the house and had arranged to meet a couple of friends about 3 miles away! This was my first proper long run for ... read more

A 7 week training programme -- that is a crash course! Mind you I can only manage 7:47 pace for 200m intervals!

  8. RUN
good Cork City Marathon 26.2 mi 03:00 06:51 pace

Given that my target time was sub-3 hours for this marathon you can see that I just made it by the skin of my surprisingly unblistered feet.

I went out at 6:30 / mile pace and held this for most o... read more

  9. RUN
great Threshold intervals 11.28 mi 01:11 06:15 pace

This session felt AMAZING! I've not felt this good running since the early days of my marathon program when the runs were short and sweet, so given that today's was a tough session I'm pretty happ... read more

  10. RUN
    alright Woodley 10k 10 km 00:36 05:45 pace

Not the best 10k I've ever run, but considering I'm at the end of a marathon program I guess I could hardly expect a massive pb.

I have to get my starts sorted out - I went out with a 3:15 for the... read more

  11. RUN
great 8 miles race pace 8 mi 00:52 06:26 pace

My calf was much better today after Monday's run so hopefully panic over. The run felt comfortable at 6:30 pace and I took a route that was quite undulating and uneven so overall fairly pleased.

  12. RUN
blah Mixed Mile Intervals 6.5 mi 00:41 06:18 pace

Not a great run. I was in Milan and ended up running a a fairly busy route so I couldn't get into my rhythm and had to do the mile repeats up and down the same stretch of road.

The plan was to wa... read more

  13. RUN
    alright 10 mile threshold 11 mi 01:07 06:03 pace

After a warm up mile I did a 10 mile piece at threshold intensity. I thought I'd be averaging about 5:30 to 5:40 per mile but after a couple of miles it was pretty clear that this wasn't going to ... read more

Serious pace George, nice one. Are you starting the taper for Cork now? Will you stay with 2 runs/week ?

Thanks, felt a little off form but still happy enough with it. I'm still training hard for the next couple of weeks, just no more long runs. I'll be sticking with 2 runs a week as it seems to be working for me and I'm trying to prove a point. That said, I do feel as though a short recovery run earlier in the week would have helped. Should never have done those burpees on Tuesday...

    good Brighton 20 miler 20.17 mi 02:18 06:50 pace

This was a similar run to last week, but this time the objective was to run a half marathon at my target marathon pace.

    great 10k Threshold Run 7.64 mi 00:46 06:04 pace

    great 7.9 mi 01:00 07:33 pace

alright Thame to Dunstable 26.39 mi 03:13 07:17 pace

      Great Performance:

Wow - great run. I'd love to be able to extend my distance out and keep my pace up at that level. Especially given the effort level you indicated. Hopefully, soon ... though I think it might be more of an effort for me!

Nice run - I love the instant feedback of the garmin but find myself checking it too often on occasion. What was the elevation profile of the run?

Sarb - thanks, it's feeling good at the moment. My goal is to dip under 2:45 in the Florence Marathon this November for the Championship qualifying time for London 2011. So far so good...

Colin - the run was mostly flat but the middle 5 miles or so had some pretty viscious hills in it. We backed off the pace and chatted the whole way round about all sorts of stuff so although the pace varied it was pretty even intensity.
