good First long run following injury 16.3 mi 02:42 09:55 pace

Dosed up with ibuprofen and sporting my new compression socks and Camel pack I set off on a 16 miler this morning at last (after much delay through injury) first mile was hell with my legs still being heavy from lack of training but despite the big uphill into Coddington I started to feel good. 4 miles of the run was in a beautiful huge wood and I of course was not alone. The softer ground really helped the joints and it was stunning, the run out of coddington is equally stunning so I was really enjoying the run. I got to 14 miles no problem but I started to feel it in my legs after that having never run further than that but I got around and got the confidence i desperately needed. Got home to the smell of bacon and egg sarnies which was lovely and then i ate whilst suffering my first ever ice bath.....OUCH!
