The Yuba City Fun Run was significant to me in many ways, starting with the fact that it was my first race since the CIM on December 6. I can't really say I raced it, but I did feel great. Am I still out of shape? Most certainly (those obstacles were HORRIBLE), but I got it done. It also marks the first week I've had significant mileage since December as well: 24 miles total. Since I haven't run more than 5 miles at a stretch, it also means I've run every day this week.

Race-wise, it was the inaugural race, and went flawlessly with the sole exception that my chip time didn't get logged! Since I'm not racing at the moment, it wasn't the end of the world, but it was annoying. It went off without any injuries from any runners, but then the stupidest thing happened.

You know those big bounce houses with the slides? Apparently the bounce house vendor didn't secure it properly, and the whole thing collapsed with 5 or 6 kids on the top, about 20 feet up. Ambulances were called, we were on our way out at the time, so I don't know the outcome yet. I pray for those kids, and hope there's a race again next year!

It's great to be out there again.

Nice job, that's terrible about the bounce house. I sure hope the kids are ok.
