20th place, I think 6th in my age group (not too sure, didn't look too closely). My watch says 1:29:30 but officially I think it's 1:29:32. Either way it's a PR of about a minute which is something to be proud of. I definitely didn't pace this the way I should have (as evidenced by my splits below) but like all things with my training and racing, it's a work in progress. It is a little frustrating to think that if I had paced better I could have come closer to my 1:27 goal. Still, can't complain about a PR. That being said, here are my complaints:
I bought 3 hammer gels last night and completely forgot them at home this morning (fail). I wish I had worn shorts and a t-shirt instead of running pants and a long sleeve tech T (planning fail). Slight headwind combined with general fatigue made me lose my will for speed on the last 5 miles (weather/determination fail). All in all though, a great race and a fun time.
Splits:
• Lap 1 – 6:17
• Lap 2 – 6:29
• Lap 3 – 6:31
• Lap 4 – 6:47
• Lap 5 – 6:44
• Lap 6 – 6:38
• Lap 7 – 6:56
• Lap 8 – 6:46
• Lap 9 – 7:02
• Lap 10 – 7:14
• Lap 11 – 7:05
• Lap 12 – 7:14
• Lap 13 – 7.07
• .11 – 6:37

Your not supposed to RUN TO THE RACE and forget your gels. Racing is definitely a hard nut to crack though. Any time you get a PR, it is a good time. I think you just have too much mileage this week, says 58 miles right now.. You want to put in a good base but want to race at the same time. Hard to balance both desires.

You rocked it Chris! Way to run! There will always be other races and other times to go faster; you PR'd, you had great splits, even with "slowing" down in the last 5... Congrats! Keep up the stellar work.

Thanks for all the positive comments. Sure I could probably done better on a proper taper but I'll definitely take the PR. Also in my defense, I jogged to the race as my warm up. I tend to feel most comfortable on higher mileage.
