Sounds like a great time, I was stuck eating Hibachi (ok, so I like Hibachi I just wished I could have raced tonight as well). I love that course and the race has a great vibe (at the risk of sounding hippy like). I hope to make it next week, I haven't decided about shoes yet.

I was the race sweeper for all our home XC meets at my old school! I loved running in the kiddos who felt like they couldn't do it and cheering them on!

I am melting just thinking of you running in this heat and humidity. Exercise pain does feel good when you've been out of practice (unless you push way too hard and just getting out of your chair takes 2 full minutes...not that I have ever experienced anything like that...)

Great that you are at it again. So many things I want to say here about starting over and how hard it is to make time when you have little kids, but I know you already know all that stuff. So just remind yourself that it's all true, and go from there. Glad to see you back!

The whole course was beautiful, and started out not too difficult. At first I was thinking "I do Bear Brook, this is pretty easy." Then the course turned around and kicked me in the nuts.

Dave the course kicked everyone hard. You aren't alone in that. I think Emerald Necklace is going to be tough also. Keep on training, that can be a future goal, like me with a 50 miler! :-) I sat down and looked at the stats for EM. It's 25m, 25m, and then a 50k, with almost 8,000 ft change of elevation each day. Talked about getting kicked! :-)

4+ miles is a long run for me. I wear Wright, Smartwool, and Darn Tough, but of course, not all at once. Wright is good because they are double layered but I have no experience at that distance. What do you have that isn't working?
