great IMTX Race report
This race was HOT (and HUMID)!! I don’t think anyone (racers or spectators) would disagree with that statement. I was talking to one of the medical volunteers after the raced, and she said that t... read more

Such a great race, Steve! The heat was insane. I found myself laughing at points because it seemed so ridiculous! I ran with a few athletes who were here doing their 5th, 7th, 10th, IM and all said that yesterday was the most brutal race they had ever done. 15.5% dnf rate!

You are amazing!! Congrats ironman!! You did it!!

So how did you like the canal mosh pit? Great swim.

Fantastic swimming, Steve! I likened the canal to a washing machine effect. I looked over to the right and left of me and saw people walking...I stayed in the middle because there was no way I would chance someone snapping a picture of me walking during my swim!!

@Ann - I didnt actually run WITH a broken leg - I broke it in late October, and the doctor cleared me to "start" running two months later (as pain allowed) in early January (two days before the Houston Marathon) - My only training run was to the end of my driveway & back to make sure I still knew how to run. Not the best scenario, but I already had my registration and decided to experience the Start line - I started, and (unexpected) didnt stop until the Finish line.3 days ago • Like

I have a Morton's Neuroma in my left foot... UUUUGH!! Anyone know of a quick heal trick for one of these? Race Day is Saturday with it without a Morton's Neuroma.
-
I have heard people have had some success with steroid injection, but I don't know if you want to mess with that this close to the race. Also, I am somewhat leary of using something that can mask the pain. You need to know if you are doing more damage. Tough call, Steve!

Thanks guys!! I soaked it in a pot of ice water last night before bed - and it seems better this morning (but not healed). I'm going to plan to do the same thing each night up until the race. It has been getting a little bit better each night since Sunday (the flare up day) - So it may be more or less well by Saturday morning, but I am sure that 140.6 miles will put it through the ringer (especially the 26.2 miles). I'm just going to have to deal with it...

@Mika - Thank you so much for the link!! I am going to read it today.
@Steve - I was thinking about KT Tape also, but am worried about puting something foreign in my shoe for that long of a race - it may change my gait, and cause other issues....
@Drake - It's between my 1st & 2nd toe (big toe & 2nd toe) - I have had issues with this before, but havent had them for a while....5 days ago • Like

Well, I am a parent of four, but there all grown and either graduated college already, or still in college! Honestly, I didn't start working out until about 5/6 years ago when my son was entered high school. With their swimming and school, there wasn't anytime for me. But now it's all about me which is awesome~~ Hang in there!!

it's not easy but i find it works best when i have a weekly plan for fitting it all in around what kids/hubby are doing. I try to log into my training peaks on sunday and see what my son and i have scheduled for the week (we have the same coach) and write it on the family weekly calendar which is in plain view in the kitchen. i am not naturally a morning person either but have had to become one and actually enjoy getting most workouts done early.
