good Hell on the BRO 15 mi 03:00 12:00 pace

Went to the BRO for a trail run at HELL:30 (around noon). 5 hot miles out. Then, 0.5 miles back, before I laid down in the river for 10 minutes. Ahh, refreshing. Moved my car door opener to my Nathan handheld side pocket, before the soak. Somewhere within a mile from the finish, my car door opener fell out. I didn't know it until 0.1 to go (~Mile 9.9). Shit! Backtracked and told a youth hiking group about my loss. I kept walking, to at least 2.5 miles back in, before turning around, giving up the search. I really thought I lost it in the last mile of the run, as I remember turning my water bottle upside then, squeezing out the dregs before the finish. Well, during my return from my failed search, someone from the group had found it and place it on a root in the middle of the trail. I found it! So, relieved. Would've sucked having to call and wait for someone to unlock my door. So tough walking and looking at the ground for another ~5 miles in the woods. And, had to drink from the river a few times during that time. Probably this county's sewer water. I might grow another head. Oh well. I'm alive and I have cold IPAs in the fridge. I'll live.

Oh, and I saw the Welch's out on the trail during my walking search. Kristin won the ICY-8 (8 hour race in Feb) women's division with 42.3 miles and her husband, Michael, took 3rd in the men's division with 47 miles. They were going too fast for me to say hello properly and tell my sad story. Heck, maybe they were the ones who found my car door opener and placed it on that root. I don't know.

Awesome 15 Andy. You are a brave soul drinking from the river. There's days around here that it's not even safe to drink form the tap!

Sorry to hear about the opener. At least you found it. Nice added miles. A couple extra IPS's will kill the germs from the water.

Glad you found your car door opener, That would have been a bummer and I hate that feeling.

Thank goodness you found your keys. As for the extra head, you would look good in two doo rags.

Glad that all ended well. Can't imagine how rough the BRO was in that heat.
