tired Dodge the Bikers Long Run 12.01 mi 02:25 12:04 pace

It was a good decision to go counterclockwise today, since there were dozens of bikers (they usually travel clockwise). I guess that's what happens on a 55-degree sunny Saturday afternoon! I ended up stopping to let one through a handful of times each mile since the trails are technical single track. Usually it was the same people over and over again. On my last lap, one of them exclaimed, "wow you're running a lot!"

The goal today was to do 4 loops on the 3 mile North Meck Park trails, with an extra road mile if I was feeling good. The first two laps went well so I decided to take my road mile at half-point. After the road mile, I was feeling even better--it served as a quick recovery. A little into the third lap, all of that went out the window and I decided it was a bad idea to do 4 loops when I usually only do 1 and the most I have ever done (once) was 2.

OK, new plan: Sub in two more road miles, then finish the loop and call it a day. Well... I felt worse and worse and ended up walk/jogging the last 2 miles. I am pretty sure I was dehydrated because my spit was solid white and I was very dizzy and thirsty. Plus I was still recovering from being sick on Thursday night (yes, that kind). I was taking Powerade Zero sips as I finished each loop but I guess it wasn't enough!

Highlight of the day: there's a section where a curve is followed by a steep downhill, which leads directly into a narrow plank bridge crossing and then another curve uphill. I was coming on to this in the opposite direction, and I see 2 young boys, their mom, and then another boy. The last kid just made it over the bridge and I heard him say, "Mom, that was VERY fun, but it was VERY risky!!" LOL!! I think he was about 5 or 6.
