I had a superb commute home this evening. I was full of energy and the weather was perfect for running, so I decided to explore a new route along the picturesque Battersea side of the River Thames. I love the sense of adventure that comes from running in unknown terrain. This is my new favourite route home!
I was also excited about trying out my my new North Face Borealis backpack and new Saucony Kinvara 2 shoes. Both were amazing. The backpack was loaded with 11 pounds (5 kilos) of work stuff but was very comfortable throughout the run. The shoes felt light and roomy; I'm dying to wear them for a tempo run some time soon ;-)
Happy Tuesday friends!

Heard nothing but good things about Kinvaras. Glad they worked for you! Excellent pace for toting 5 kilos of stuff.

Nice run Simon. Is the bag full of stuff you really NEED? I'm impressed that you run with it, but could you leave it at work at get it in the morning? After a long run like that there's little I expect I could do the rest of the day. Great run!

I have a pair of Kinvaras sitting in a shoebox in my room, gonna break em in at track over the next few weeks. NIce 14, when you do a longer distance in the week, what do you eat at lunch? I'm giving some thought race fuel at the minute..

Thanks friends. @Ben I had too much energy and was worried I would run too fast so I thought lugging some weight would be good resistance training. I wouldn't normally do this for risk of injury so I took a gamble! @Murdo I had 2 'Eat' sandwiches for lunch and a flapjack at 3.30pm. I've found I don't need to refuel during these easy-effort runs. For a morning race I would have cereal, toast or porridge with a banana. Avoid any fat laden foods!
