I've been dealt a poor hand this last 7 days, starting with illness in the family, cutting short our fantastic States vacation, dealing with jet lag and juggling being a single dad with emergencies at work that have arisen. Although I can't control the cards I've been dealt, I can sure as hell control how I play them... well that's what I kept telling myself as I struggled towards the 20 mile goal. Job done, now for a beer ;-)

Happy Thursday friends!

Simon, I'm hoping you are doing okay with the non-running stuff. Where were you in the States? Just wondering. I hope the family issues get resolved soon and you get a parenting break. In the meantime what a SICK run Simon. Holy cow! I'm hoping to get 20 miles a week in and you are doing it in one run!! Wow. I hope you feel good tomorrow. That's incredible!

Thanks Ben! We were in Vegas for a wedding. Plan was 6 days in Vegas followed by 6 days in San Fran. Thankfully we attended the wedding but had to fly back the next day ;-( F-I-L is now being moved out of Intensive Care and into the High Dependency Unit. I need 2 more of these 20 milers to get the body accustomed to my 2nd Marathon on 20th May.

I've just read on @Royce B's posts that 'Born to Run' ultramarathoner Micah True died a few days ago. What a truly sad loss to the running community! http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/04/01/micah-true-dead-ultrarunner-search-new-mexico_n_1394305.html
