Hey, you're back to running! I once made the mistake of running the first day I was in Denver. After a mile I wanted to take a nap. And, as you know, I stupidly did my first marathon in Salt Lake City.

Ouch! Yeah, I went to Aspen in 1998 and we got the bright idea to go on a nice hike the first day that went from 8,000 feet up to 12,000 feet. HUGE mistake. It really wasn't so bad - I had to walk up all the big hills (hence the slooow pace) but I still had to walk the big ones in Vancouver a few weeks ago, so I think that may not get better with pregnancy. Doc says anything is fine as long as I don't get overheated and out of breath.

Sorry to hear about the morning sickness! They say to avoid things that are hard to digest, such as meat, and stick to easy and nutritious things. It's been so long since I was involved in this kind of thing closely though, so don't take me too seriously . Congrats on getting out there!

I was reading an article about pica (eating of clay) and it said that many women in the third world eat it -- they tried to find why and it appears it absorbs toxins from the digestive system. So there is actually a type of clay tablet you can buy now! They also named a product at the drugstore (brand name I can't remember) which is actually a clay. Just interesting factoids.

Sorry -- forgot to say it was for morning sickness (the clay tablet). Try eating quinoia and lentils. Those are high nourishment, low impact foods that also help rid the body of toxins.

Thank you! Yeah, not ready to go FB public just yet, trying not to be too superstitious but really want to see the first ultrasound and my husband is super-superstitious about all of it! It's easier to hide this time since I'm keeping my food down and have enough energy to get through the shows pretty well, and I actually feel great when I get workouts in! Thanks for the congrats! :) Your new little one sure is precious! :)

Congratulations, my dear friend! I would talk to your doctor. But switching to the half is probably a good idea. A marathon really does put your body through it, and there's no reason to take on that much stress. Love you, and awesome job on your race time!

I remember after our first speedwork session two weeks ago the ball of that right foot was really sore, and after the long run a week ago Sunday I felt some twinges in the arch, so I think that is when the injury happened - this week just pushed it over the edge. I usually heal quickly and I have good care, so I'm sure it will be fine!
-
Hills can be brutal. I've come to the conclusion that I live in Florida, and I am embracing the flatness. You must need the time off for some reason. Rest up and heal well.

The no pain thing is odd. My left Achilles has been sore an burning for at least a year. I don't go to the doctor because I know what he's going to say. I'm hoping it's just tendonitis. If I leave my foot in one position, it gets really tight and I walk around like an old man. It hurts when I start running but warms up after a couple of miles, which makes me think it's not a tear.
