    alright 3.15 mi 00:32 10:09 pace

My legs felt like lead, but it was a nice day. I just did a LOT of walking with this one.

With this pace - You were either very fast when you were running or you didn't do that much walking! - Nice work though!

  5. RUN
    great 3 mi 00:30 09:50 pace

I am posting this run because I finally got back down to an under 10:00 min mile! I still run 3 days a week, typically 3.2 miles (the lake route) but have been running about an average of a 10:20 ... read more

  7. RUN
    alright 3.1 mi 00:27 08:34 pace

It's too dang hot. Done with serious speed training for the summer. I'll pick it back up in September. Back to picking up some distance...I will increase by .2 miles every weekend. And... read more

  8. RUN
    good 3.1 mi 00:27 08:33 pace

Still not back at my faster pace. Maybe the heat is playing a role? Don't know, but I'm going to keep on trying!

  9. This is for you, Shannon. :) I ran the Thursday before we left for Puerto Rico (2 weeks ago today) and rocked it. Then in Puerto Rico, Matt and I worked out at the fitness center...light weights... read more

Isn't it just crazy how quickly we can lose strength and speed? But then that muscle memory kicks in and it's back super fast! Fascinating stuff. Same with certain exercises. You'll get it back! Thanks for the update:)

It really is fascinating. As you know, I am always teetering between running just for fun and running with a goal in mind. When I start slowing down like this, I want to quit the speed training and just enjoy the runs. But, ultimately I know I can never just run for fun. I am too goal oriented and I really want that under 8:00 for 5K pace guaranteed. I also lifted much lighter today. Not on purpose, but because I literally could not get back to the pre-Puerto Rico weights. Bad day overall, but...

  10. RUN
    good 3.1 mi 00:25 07:55 pace

Hot, but happy! In all honesty, there was about 3 minutes of stopped time in between b/c I had to wait for traffic to allow me to cross the street twice. So, I don't know if I would have mad... read more

  11. RUN
    alright 3.1 mi 00:27 08:34 pace

This was in 80 degree heat after a night of drinking with the in-laws. I'll take it.

  12. RUN
    3.1 mi 00:25 08:00 pace

AAAAAAAAAA!!!! So close! I wasn't planning on going for the 3.1 miles. I did 2.5 in 19:47 and then just decided to do an easy .6 more and just see what the time would be. I am so excited tha... read more

  13. RUN
    great 2.5 mi 00:20 07:58 pace

I did it! I did it! I did it! Now I have to keep this up for another week and then I can move on to the 3.1 mile mark... Slowly but surely...

  14. I couldn't seem to get under an 8:00 min mile for the 2.5-mile distance last week. I am trying for it again this week.

  15. RUN
    good 2.5 mi 00:20 08:00 pace

So close!!! Slowly but surely getting there. I walked for 1:15 of it, so next time, I'll cut out a 15 sec walk break and just do a slow jog to cool down. That should do it...

Oh, and I should also say I have gone to Plan #4...run the first mile at under 8:00 pace, and then do speed intervals (90 sec reg pace, 90 sec fast) until I get to the weekly mileage goal. In that 90 secs regular pace part, I often walk the first 15-30 secs. I have successfully done a week's worth of 2 miles under 8:00, so now I am up to trying for 2.5 miles under 8:00. This seems to be manageable at the time... I give it 2 weeks before I'm on Plan #5...

  16. Ran 2 miles at a 7:53 pace on Tuesday and today I ran two miles at an 8:22 pace b/c the gym is so flippin' hot!!! I still got that first mile in 7:41 though.

  17. Conquered 10 minutes running at a 7:53 pace each time this week even in my neighborhood's hills. Now to see if I can keep it up for 11 minutes! Got a whopping 11 miles in this week! Ha!
