Sometime the hard part of running isn't the running, but the getting out of bed part. I miss when I was able to somehow pop out of bed at 6am. Maybe the initial enthusiasm about running made it easier. So today I found some time after work today to run... read more

First run after getting back from my Disney World Trip. Just one mile, I know. Been trying to catch up on rest, I guess? I hope to post my race report from last week soon. Can't wait for the LA Marathon this weekend!!!

  3. Back from Florida... lots of catching up to do!

The goal was to run for four hours. This was the week for my 20-miler long run, but a combination of things made me revise it to a timed run instead.

    1. I had run a 10K in the morning (this was run yesterday, on Sunday actually), which I guesstimated... read more

I've never run for two hours, let alone four. Way to get it done.

  5. Oh my god. 24 miles of running today. I'm so tired I can't even fill out a proper workout post. Tomorrow

Not bad. Half of the course is uphill, and half is downhill, making this a pretty challenging course. I'm not the kind to under-estimate the downhill portions (I saw someone take a spill!), and the uphills are self-explanatory.

This is one of the olde... read more

Bummed I didn't see you. We can't have been that far apart during the race, our finishing times were only about 30 seconds apart. Well run, I say!

I tried looking! I wore my DailyMile shirt. It was orange. I should have run faster, then we would have met!! Next time!!

  7. Lots of people I know are running the Firecracker 10K. I was going to try running my 20 miles the day before and just make it an easy recovery "race" but now I really want to be part of the action... what to dooooo...

    • Trace B. Trace B.

I would take it as a recovery run. I will be there jogging the 5k

If the LAM is your true goal, get your 20 out of the way and run the race as a recovery. Those are my two cents anyway.

Thanks! I really was going to follow both of your advice, but I ended up not having time the day before to run the 20-miler. So instead I ran the race on fresh legs, and left a little room for an 18-miler in the afternoon. That 10k would have been on "hill" of a recovery though. Yikes.

First weekday morning run in ages. Felt great toward the end, though in the beginning I was feeling stiff. The whole time I was contemplating what I'm going to do about that 20-miler this weekend. I haven't a lot of build-up running in the past few wee... read more

I'm useless for marathon training advice, having never done it. But good luck, and I'm sure you'll do great!

Cheering Pasadena neighbors, some pleasant looking homes and streets, the mountains in the distance, and those Pasadena bridges -- I wouldn't say it was a spectacular course, but there were no moments of boredom. Mostly just good feelings!
