  1. goodThree After the Rain 2.79 mi / 00:30 10:46 pace

Beautiful day to run! It had been raining the past two days, so when it cleared, and it did clear with at least two rainbows showing up yesterday, it felt like the mountains and sky were in super HD.

scenery in HD? wanna trade? nothing but b&w here!

  2. If it's not one thing, then it's another. I guess that means I'm in the thick of training. Right knee, the good one started to hurt, while not running. It sort of felt like I hit it on something, but I don't remember if I did or not. Feeling better now... read more

I should not under estimate the need for fueling up. Phew, only had a couple of granola bars, and I forgot to really load up on carbs this past week. This was not too bad for the first 2/3 of the run, but my last bit was pretty difficult. I was hungry ... read more

Good job with the long run! Do you take any gels during your run? It really helps me when I'm doing runs longer than 10 miles.

Thanks! I had a Hammner gel before the run and tried to stretch out one packet of Luna gummies (like shot blocks?). I did the last 15 mile run on this much, but it was also later in the day when I had food in my system from earlier. Live and learn!

  4. alrightLower Arroyo Seco - Scenic 4.85 mi / 00:55 11:16 pace

This run never really got that easy. It actually started off okay, but calves felt stiff as I went along. I've been running in the evenings, and I only have one pair of longer running pants and that one is in the wash. I should try to keep a little war... read more

Had a great hike in Griffith Park today. Views are amazing after the rain!

I ran the Lower Arroyo Seco this weekend, so I was looking up at the clear sky and mountains. That was beautiful too if you want to avoid the mud or landslides. I only had to hop around two or three puddles. It's along an man-made water channel (drain?), so there was the added sounds of water rushing by.

  6. goodA Half Marathon Plus Two!! 15 mi / 03:08 12:31 pace

I was freezing my legs off out there, but I finished my first 15 mile long run feeling better than when I ran the 13.1 Los Angeles half marathon a couple weeks ago. I went much slower here, and stopped frequently. The first 5 or so miles I ran on trail... read more

A run in the rain! This made me late for the Mary Poppins show. It was fun though! I should get one of those "baseball" caps for rainy days, though.

  8. I just realized you guys might like this little bit of Prefontaine-era (sorry, don't mean to define a whole era by one athlete.... I have a very limited knowledge of the sport in general... sorry!) history.

The longer I wait, the harder it is for me to get out the door, which is why I originally set out to be a morning runner. But lately I've been feeling like a bear on hibernation. Today though I was itching to run, so even though I stalled a bit eating ... read more

I think the slow runs that you enjoy are the ones that help keep you sane and healthy during training.

Good job getting out there :)

Good run. I agree about the slow runs — they're great for their own reasons!

If you ever need some external accountability, let's set a time to run together. I live in Eagle Rock, so we could go to the Rose Bowl or anywhere between Glendale and Pasadena. We'll keep each other honest. :)

I feel you on the hibernation mode. It's been super hard waking up for those morning runs! You can do it! And it's good to have slower runs and take it all in :)
