I ran the 2nd Annual 12Ks of Christmas on a cool Sunday night. My buddy, Kevin Green, hosted this fun event and shared his home and neighborhood with about 40 runners from all over metro Detroit. We each ran a "K" and then had a special food and drink treat before heading out on the next "K". The food and drink selections were awesome: cookies, donuts, beer, schnapps, eggnog, chocolate wine, Grand Marnier, etc. Kevin gave each of us a styrofoam cup attached to a ribbon so we could wear it around our neck. As we ran, the cup dangled off our back. Each new drink mixed with the residue of the prior drink to make for an interesting new concoction. We all had a bit of overflow spill out on us as we ran creating a unique smell of alcoholic candy. It was fun and funny. Kevin started the night with a group picture and a toast of champagne. We then took off running. A small fire lit in his driveway kept us warm between runs. It was a blast to run with so many friends of old and new: Kevin (Just Finish), Mike Croy (DirtDawg), Slow Joe Burns (Medals4Mettle & Marine Corps Marathon), Mindy, Martha, Dave Dysert, Todd Powers, Ryan Miller, and Andrea, to name a few. This was only my second run since MCM, so I was a little hesitant going for 7+ miles. However, I felt great out there. Perhaps the treats and breaks helped but I gotta say the running was awesome. Thanks so much to Kevin for yet another outstanding edition of the 12Ks of Christmas. Now that's the spirit!
