Happy with my performance but I think I'm going to avoid races like these in the future. Although I loved the course, I did not appreciate the people who can't or won't follow basic etiquette or the prohibitions against strollers. They were really endangering others during the race. I even heard one of a group of walkers blocking everyone to "stop bitching" when they were asked to please stay on the right (clearly she had been told several times). smh

avoid Nike Women's Marathon, the walkers will do like 6 people abrest arms locked blocking everyone else and not caring in the least, wharf to wharf was way better than Nike was. I'm NEVER doing Nike again!

I think WtW was good training for San Francisco Marathon next weekend for me, the road runner mentality is MUCH different from trail runners for sure, and I hear the golden gate bridge gets very congested at SFM.

It's no wonder I prefer my trail races :D

I'm glad to hear trail races are different because I've done a few runs on trails and have really enjoyed them! I've checked out that site you told me about, Brazen, and also Coastal. Need to get some of those on my calendar!

Bummer to hear about Nike because I was going to try for it next year. :( What is wrong with people?!

That's aggravating!!! I remember running into racewalkers blocking everyone's forward progress at a half marathon I did. I ended up having to elbow myself a path through them when they ignored my polite request to let me through. They were in a line in the center of the street. After passing them I realized that they must've also unconsiderately placed themselves in a higher corral because I didn't pass them until the 3-mi mark! Trail runners are much more considerate :-)

honestly the best road race I've ever done was big sur, that was gorgeous scenery and no obnoxious people it was very pleasant. Most road races are oversold and super crowded.

What a pain! It's hard enough running in a crowd without people actively blocking you! Still a good time in spite of it all :)

Ugh, inconsiderate people! That can be so frustrating. But hope you enjoyed the rest of the race, and you had a great pace!

So weird. If you don't want to *race*, don't enter an event that is a *race*, right? Not to mention: Getting passed or passing (mostly the first one for me :-D), is a big part of racing! You did great though, Edina! Nice work!
