Met up this morning with Gavin M. for the first time in quite a while, in fact this is only my 3rd run of the new year (one was a 2 miler on a dreadmill) and after about at least a month of not running at all. The other thing against me? I've been fighting a cold all week!
The plan for today was 2 easy miles, 3 tempo @ 6:34 pace, and 1 more easy. First with the good - I TOTALLY nailed the 2 easy miles ;-) and surprisingly I nailed the first tempo mile also (even though Gavin was clearly faster and leading the way). After that, it was all downhill (not literally, although that would have been nice!). I was already struggling to keep up with Gavin at mile 3 and after that my legs refused to move that fast!! It was pretty ugly and Gavin just cruised further off into the distance. I felt COMPLETELY out of shape out there today, but I gotta start up again somehow right? Well, at least I nailed my final easy mile!!
