Phew! Rough run. Started out ok, but by the halfway point I knew I was pushing too hard. Took my scheduled gel and backed off the pace and felt better for a few miles. Then I had a tough hill which after I finished was having serious thoughts about walking. But just backed off pace some more, let legs recharge a bit. They never really did, but made it to the end. What a sweat-fest! Also still hanging onto this chest congestion a bit, which certainly isn't helping matters.

Having some serious thoughts about sticking with the training paces I used over the past 9 months instead of the faster paces I "earned" during my last two Half's. One to help reduce chance of injury leading up to Marine Corp Marathon, and other to leave a little extra in the tank for Oly Tri training that overlaps for about 8 weeks.

Way to go, Ed. My wicking shirt is a soaking wet mess right now.

Don't sweat the pace with this heat Ed. Once things cool down in the mornings in late August the speed will just naturally come back.

It is hard to go faster when it is this hot/humid. Your level of effort to hit those paces is probably through the roof. But that will just make it feel very easy in the Fall. Not a bad idea to stick with the tried and true paces, at least until we get some cool weather.
