Solo easy run. Kept things very controlled, partially by design as I ran this route backwards so that I had to finish uphill in through University Ave traffic. Thought about how frustrating my job was and the goals for the weekend. They are, in no particular order:

1. Sub 2:40 -- This should be easily achievable with smart to mediocre strategy. I have been running the equivalents of 2:39's in all of my best races this year so this is achievable and more. This way I can easily get in the elite wave at Green Bay.

2. Top 100 Americans. This is also pretty achievable. I don't know exactly where the 100th American has finished at NYC the last few years, as that is the only nationality you cannot sort results by... but I know about the top 100...

3. Top 100 Overall. This makes top 100 American redundant, but takes into account a race as fast as last year where 100th place was 2:35:37. I am probably capable of running that time but since 2005 the 100th place finisher has typically been around 2:37:xx to 2:39.

I plan on running as conservatively as Michelle Bachmann votes, so if that goes as planned a 2:37 is certainly in the plans, but shooting for anything faster than that before mile 18 is probably not a smart choice by me.
