I took a little road trip west to Lore City, Ohio to run the Guernsey County Trail 10k. Aaron P H. joined me for the road trip and we met up with Mike S. and his buddy Bob from Zanesville. It was great to finally meet Mike after following him on DM for a few years. This may have been a small town race but they have on of the nicest rails to trails that I have seen anywhere. Very flat and paved the entire way.
After my sub 5:00 mile last night at the Liberty Mile I was still juiced up and ready to race thise morning. Today's 10k was the first of three races between 8k-15k that the Pfitzinger training plan calls for over the next four weeks. My goal was to go all out and see where my fitness is, 5:45 was my target pace. The temps this morning were in the 50's, unfortunately the race didn't start until 9:20 (20 minutes late) and we missed the perfect weather. Mile 1 was a little fast at 5:30 and the rest of the race was spot on. I missed my goal by 1 second per mile with a time of 35:50 and first place overall. I am pumped with the results. Aaron ended up finishing a little over 1 minute behind me in 36:55 and a second place finish, I can't wait to see how he does at the Erie Marathon. Mike and Bob also ran well finishing in the top three of their age groups.
Have a great weekend and thanks for all the supprt from my DM peeps

So great to meet and run with you some today. Glad you informed me about the race and we could make it. Congrats on the overall win.

According to DM you missed your target pace by .01 second. So maybe you need to work a little harder, huh? Damn, David, two fine races in 24 hours. Your training is paying off.
