Set off with an aim of running a 1:52 pace, but felt great after a fast mile 10k start, so decided to aim for 1:50. Perhaps a little conservative on the first hill, which lost me a little time. Decided to only drink when thirsty, and felt much better for it. Hot and sunny, the last 2 miles were a race against time to the football stadium, where the finish-line was located. Great atmosphere as the runners speed into the stadium, where the crowd gave wonderful support. A new pb for me, since the 1:50:08 in Cardiff in 2010 was technically short by 400 meters! Nice bit of confidence building ahead of the Stratford marathon.
UPDATE: Rather pleasing 5K splits 26:52, 26:04,26:43, 25:36 Two slowest included the minor hills, but I got stronger as the race went on... That's a first!
