Broken Spoke Bike Ride

Argghhh, broke a spoke about half way through my ride in the Golden Gate Park. Not safe to ride, so I coasted part of the way home, and my wife picked me up about 5 miles from home.

All of my spokes are carbon fiber. That is one of my biggest fears. Yikes!!

Well, these DT Swiss RR1850 wheels are going in the garbage. This is the third time I've had spokes breaking and the rear hub is getting noisy as well. On the hunt for a new set of nice (and bullet-proof) training wheels.

Doug I found these. Very tempting. http://cgi.ebay.com/NIB-ROAD-BIKE-WHEELSET-700C-WHEELS-HAND-BUILT-BLACK-/200442551191?pt=Cycling_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2eab4e9b97

I actually carry two spare spokes in my down tube under the seat. Remove the seat and there they are. I broke three spokes before I did this. Since then, touch wood, been OK.

Sounds kinda like my ride today, "and my wife picked me up about 5 miles from home". Thank goodness for the pretty wife! Good luck with the wheels. The link from Sean F. looks good - good price too.

I ended up getting a pair of Mavic Ksyrium Elites at the local bike store this morning ... that a good solid set of daily training wheels ... SF Bike Coalition 15% discount FTW!
