Day 3 Trek Across Maine: To me the most physically tiresome day. Long rolling hills that aren't spread very far apart proved grueling but I handled them well. No more technical issues until af... read more

Day 2 Trek Across Maine: Fewer techincal issues today. Only two punctures, and I didn't kiss the ground. 13% grade at the finish line but I still felt pretty strong. Slow leak and no extra tub... read more

Day 1 Trek Across Maine: Many techincal issues had me in a real negative headspace for a lot of the ride. I had 3 punctures, about 4 dropped chains, and fell twice. Had a pretty strong pace going f... read more

My first clipless ride. Thankfully no topples since my son gave me a lesson in the driveway. He had me practicing clipping and unclipping, calling out which shoe to unclip and playing traffic direc... read more

Oh, I've taken a few tumbles so far. Just during the dooryard practice sessions. 3 falls total. For sure there will be a few more.

Nice job on the ride, I usually carry Fiber One bars in my bag, or granola bars of some sort. They fill me up long enough until I can get home!

Crazy thing was I came home and saw your post and noticed we were both doing our workouts in Waterboro. Wasn't aware there was a race this morning. Congrats btw. What time was the 5K? Didn't run into any racers on the road today.

It started @ 9:00, left from the MHS going left on West Rd., then left on Federal St. continue until turn around. Then head back to MHS 1st entrance by tennis courts followed path to track, completed 1/2 of track to finish line. That's where I did part of my biking yesterday!

For each hour that I am out I try to plan for a bar of some sort, sport beans or something like that as well as 2 bottles of water. That's been just about right for me lately. It requires a stop to refill the water but it's well worth it. The jersey pockets do me just right for filling up with snacks but they suck for carrying extra water!
