The heat was terrible but I did 3 miles in 29:54. It wasn't a full 5k, but it was for a good cause and the people were great. I know I will be running more again soon, I just don't take the heat well and have no access to the fitness center until Mid-August.

I took it slow to see if recovery was happening. I am going to try to do same tomorrow. I am embarassed to not be running.

    • Jeremy S. Jeremy S.

Good luck with the recovery process and definitely don't feel embarrassed for a moment! I think we all know you'll be back and running, and in top form soon.

nothing to be embarrassed about ... you ran a marathon for pete's sake. take as long as needed to heal up. you definitely don't want to go back too soon and injure yourself.

I am in recovery until Friday morning but had to do something! I took a leisurely stroll on the cycle after a few random reps on legs and weights. I don't know how to handle this!

It is hard going to nothing after spending so many weeks building upto your marathon but it will be worth when you go out for your first decent run and feel great instead of sore :)

First run since marathon. I had a lot of pain on outside of right knee, so I did a wealk/run for last half mile. Not sure why the pain.

    • Sharon H. Sharon H.

Not experienced enough to comment on marathon running David but I know after my half I had different pains for about 3 weeks!! I think you're doing the right thing by taking it slow and easy :)

Way to go! Very inspiring effort! You've definitely earned some rest days now to enjoy such a major accomplishment though I'm sure we'll all enjoy following your training in the future as you continue to build on everything you've achieved so far.

Wow, thanks everybody for the support. Now everyone should be able to see how much support can come from this site. You all rock!

As to another marathon? Probably, Greg, but as you said in your race report the last half was desolate. I had a mental hard time through most of it. The half was like a party! I am still recovering but thinking about Akron and Columbus.
