  1. Reaggravated the degenerative slipped disks in my back lifting containers of compost. Lifted. That was fine. Ran .5 miles and almost collapsed in a heap on the treadmill. I better get better quick.... read more

Fog. Rain. 60 degrees. Some mud. Few people. Solitary. Got stronger as the miles increased. I was thinking of Tim O. in VA... I'll stop now.

thanks for the good thoughts. Imagine Misery, except 5 times longer, with bolders ranging in size from a small dog to a car. Now repeat for 103.7 miles.

There's a reason that 10 people were DNS, and how may DNF? It's really an amazing feat. Trailrunner Magazine worthy. You're one of those guys.

See Pat B.'s statements. I send the compliments right back. It was a great, no pressure to stretch it any distance minimum, no problem with stopping and chatting for 30 seconds after a big hil... read more

Ha. Skipped the parade with overcast skies and a light rain. Went right to the running store to pick up the two more pair of trail shoes i was talking about. It's like Christmas morning in my changing room. Never got that nap. Slept 9 straight hours overnight though. Unprecedented.

    alright Treadmill 5 mi 00:41 08:11 pace

With the 7.57 with 1200' of climbing, I really wasn't feeling doing 5, 8min/mi tonight. So, I backed it off. I deserved it.

  5. Dave B. Fun Fact: In 2013, I have climbed a total of 23,702 feet of elevation in trail running. Just sayin'... It's my thing.

So because you threw it out there, I had to see what mine is so far for the year. 67,171 feet of elevation gain. And what goes up......

    great Dark & Dirty Nighttime Trail ... 5.84 mi 00:59 10:03 pace

Well holy hell, that was a good night. On the drive out to this annual tradition, which was actually Erin's and my VERY FIRST TRAIL RACE 4 years ago, the skies opened up. As in had-to-slow-dow... read more

alright Recumbent Bike 12 mi 00:40 03:20 pace

Holy shit. I biked. It was only because I felt a twinge in my left knee last night, so with a nighttime trail race this Saturday, I convinced myself (reluctantly...) to not run.

  10. RUN
    good Treadmill 5 mi 00:40 08:00 pace

    blah Treadmill 5 mi 00:40 07:55 pace

While I wasn't sore from Broad Street, the legs were clearly not firing right and my breathing was WAY off. I guess I need to get to a trail ASAP.

Problem is, I have a brand new computer at work (which is where I'd usually do it as I hate to be on anything larger than a phone at home...) and a plugin won't load. I think it'll work on the home laptop.

Well, I guess with Broad Street coming up, a flat ten miler on a gravel trail is in order. Gotta start thinking about Half Wit and Labor Pain and Blues Cruise, though.

  18. RUN
Schuylkill Canal and River Run 6 mi 00:50 08:22 pace

Premeeting run to squeeze in. So thankful I can leave my door, and get 4 out 6 miles of a run on dirt, rocks, roots, mud and stream crossings.
