Legs felt really weak as I rolled out this morning. I think this is the product of a lazy weekend.

We went hard down, easy back, then hard down again. I was really glad to have Joey along to keep me honest. We traded turns on the hard laps until the mid-way-point hill, where I dropped him both times and soloed to the end. I really had to bury myself to stay away, which is why it was such good training.

I let Joe go at the start of the TT: a 46x34 chain set isn't conducive to TT-ing, and I ran out of gears. Despite this, I caught and passed him really soon, and led up until the bridge. Then Joe stormed past me around the bend and up my favourite little rise, pulling away while I flayed about trying to find the right gear again. A big gap quickly opened, which I resolved to close before the end by going really hard into the headwind. We came around the last bend neck and neck: Joe opened up his sprint while I stayed seated in 46x11 (not a sprinting gear) and mashed it out. I had the legs to kick it up a few kph in the dying stages and pull away from Joe's sprinting to take the win.

Fantastic morning out there today. And it was the first hit out on my new secret winter training bike.
