the internet is full of "running is great for relieving stress" advice. in particular, it seems if you choose a route you like, and run slower than usual, then the endorphins will kick in and you'll either be able to figure out a solution to whatever problem's bothering you, or just relax into a carefree clear-the-head state.
i ran a route i really like, slower (and further) than usual. without going so fast that all i could think about was how unpleasant running is, i found my mind entirely consumed by the cause of my stress, thus ending up in a considerably worse state of mind than before. i also missed my train home by 2 minutes, which gave me an extra 28 minutes to stand around stewing on the same topic.
still. at least i saw a rainbow.
