Pesky Tropical Storm (now depression). Nice job sticking to your guns and getting a run in this morning. Were you barefoot on the treadmill or a minimalist shoe?

Wow, you rocked out 9 miles before 7 a.m. Awesome. Work tries to kill me with food too and I tend to let it about once a month. I think I swing harder than I used to, but it makes me wonder about other people's diets. I'm glad it's not just me.

Same thing happens to me Dan. But I've learned that if I fall off the wagon and have cake/donuts/etc. that a decent speed session that same afternoon helps tremendously. Gives my body something to do with all the sugar besides making me feel like crap.

Hi Dan, I've been eating more low carb too (ok, besides the occasional treat like birthday cake, or weak moment like handful of chips). Lots of veggies and salads, nuts, almond butter, fruit, chicken etc. Have you read about the Paleo diet? I'm trying to follow that as closely as I can. I feel better too and don't seem to miss sweets and other junk.

Fascinating observation about energy. I'm going to chew on that for a bit. (Thank you for the caveat on the observation too.) Nice run today!

I don't mind that barefoot running is "harder" since it helps keep me injury-free. It also means more training value per mile and racing hard (in shoes) feels that much easier.
