I haven't ridden for over 10 years. My wife bought us bikes, car racks, and a kiddie trailer, so now all 6 of us can go riding together.

    alright 17 bent-knee push ups

Initial "pre-test" for the 6 week 100Pushups plan. Maybe I'm just a weakling, but having my arms support my gigantic bulk is too much right now. I'm still starting in the 0-5 ... read more

Great job, Dan! Don't think too much about where you are now. Imagine where you will be!

Week 1 seems doable. Gotta start somewhere! @una: are you doing this too? Or 200 situps?

I keep rolling through weeks 4-6 on the pushups on column 3. If I hit 150 pushups on the final fit test I may bump up the numbers during the daily workouts. I already experiment with stance and depth.

I usually do planks or ab ripper from P90X for corework. Is the 200 situp thing a full situp?

  8. New blog post about this runner's diet:

The food issue "at home" will be big. That kind of charge is often seen as an affront to people's very identity. "I have eaten meat all my life. My family eats meat. Are you rejecting us?" Hopefully it will not happen. Another hurdle is finding alternatives that fit into a vegetarian diet should you make the complete switch. If it is for health reasons rather than ethics then make the switch on your own and let you wife and children eat what they do. maybe they will join you as your weight drops.

Thanks for the encouragement. Since I like just about every food I've ever eaten, it's not hard to find food that I enjoy eating. I'm just kinda worried about monotony with "my" meals; maybe after a while I'd be able to talk my wife into thinking about making veg-friendly meals.

      Any resources?
