I remember the freezer burn sensation that breathing in cold air brings. Nice to see you on the streets and nice pace by the way. Always good to see your progress.

So part of what I think is going on is the weather is much, much cooler now and I quit smoking less than 4 months ago. I seem to be having a much harder time breathing than I was and I'm getting tired a lot faster. So besides my foot, I think my lungs are tripping me up too.

Jim, you just need to convince yourself that its time to do it. I used the gum this time but last time I used patches and quit for 3 years.

Feeling very out of shape. I've walked most of my route the last 2 days. :( http://maps.google.com/?q=http://share.abvio.com/c344/e1c3/f2a1/fcb7/Runmeter-Run-20121008-0836.kml.

You're still a winner in my book. Hope you're feeling better. I think you'll be running again real soon. PF is a phobia of mine any more so if I come across as overprotective please understand. BTW, walking/running 4.27 miles at a 12:51 pace is not something out of shape people do.

I heard soon enough but listened to late to advice given to me when I first developed my PF. "Sacrifice now or sacrifice later. Remember, there will be an interest charge." In my case the charge was to say the least significant. You're doing the right thing. Don't give up hope. We are not giving up on you. You are still a runner. Actually, you've just been baptized. See ya on the streets soon my friend.

  11. Can I do a fast walk if I have plantar fasciitis?

  12. My first 5k is on the 14th but I think I hurt my foot. I find myself walking or standing on the outside of it without even thinking and it hurts. Not horrible but I notice it. It hurts when I do... read more

    • Heather M.
      Heather M.

If you take a couple days off now, it won't really be detrimental to your 5K on the 14th. I'd give it 2 or 3 days rest and see how it's feeling. If it was still hurting, I'd try to get in with a PT to check it out. Since you're still fairly new to running, it seems possible that it could be a running-related injury, so it may be smart to back off for a bit and try to not make it worse.

I just bought brand new running shoes from the Boulder Running Co., they took video of me running on a treadmill and everything. I called them and the girl said I might need arch support. I'm going on Saturday to talk to the owner who is a physical therapist.

Good idea... the arch support is definately the key to resolving that issue. I have had it before but not had the nightmare other people have had with it because I think I caught it in the early stages like yourself.....good luck!
