good 9/11 Remembrance Run (read me) 9.11 mi 01:01 06:38 pace

Ran with a heavy heart remembering what happened on this day 11 years ago. Many of my friends were directly impacted either losing friends/family members, witnessing the carnage first hand or missing flights keeping them out of harms way.

As for this run, I set out for 9.11 miles at whatever pace. Short session of yoga last night left me a little springier than normal so decided to press the pace some after a couple miles. Increasing temps and fatigue slowed things down in the end a little, but still got in a good run. Splits were 7:06, 6:54, 6:41, 6:45, 6:18, 6:16, 6:36, 6:36, 6:40.

Post run weigh in showed me at 140lbs.(vs. normal 148-150). Guessing mostly due to dehydration from run, but also some due to some diet changes after my recent physical. Was kinda shocked when a CT scan showed minor calcificaiton of my heart. Cholesterol was in the mid 200's which is way too high. I eat mostly good and work out like a crazy man.Guess that's not enough anymore, and I'm not going to let things get worse. Friendly reminder, working out doesn't automatically make you healthy. And just because you're close to the top of your game doesn't mean you get a free pass.

Lastly, Boston Marathon 2013 here we come!

You know, Chris - it's almost like we ran together today, bro. I'll post mine later, but the stats are eerily similar. Take care of yourself and I'll see you in Boston, bro! Albeit about 25 minutes behind you ;)

Great stuff Chris - very sorry for the losses you/your friends endured. On the heart note... not sure if you saw this a little while back, but someone shared it with me & it struck a nerve, as a recent echocardiogram showed some minor scarring & my cholesterol is perfect. http://tinyurl.com/72tecxe
