  2. RUN
    great Pereira 10 km 01:10 11:15 pace

I've been running, but I always forget my Garmin or it's dead, so I don't really feel like posting. Today I ran without a shirt, to add to the spectacle. Got some good equatorial sun!

  3. RUN
great El Poblado, Villa Verde, Via ... 12.87 km 01:14 09:16 pace

More like 13.5, Garmin takes forever to find satellites. Great route along a little jungle, guadua trees, and little farms. Humid and eventually raining, I was soaked. Great way to start a Sunday!

  4. RUN
    great Pereira 8 km 00:55 11:03 pace

My Garmin was dead so I don't really know the stats, I just threw some numbers in. Thinking in km is weird, and I still don't know what a good pace would be.

Indeed. I found a really cool route on this unpaved road we take to school. It goes through this really dense area with guadua trees (like Bamboo), and little farms. So beautiful.

That sounds like heaven! I love running trails and unpaved roads with a view that is constantly changing, and trees to shade when it's hot out. :) Yay Ryan!

    good 10 km 01:03 10:08 pace

I did this twice in about 13 hours. Last night was amazing with the sunset and the people out on the street. I'll probably do that most evenings after work. This morning was also great. So many hil... read more

Nice runs back to back! Auto exhaust does make for some beautiful sunsets though... :)

great Bogota: Second Blood 7.5 km 00:45 09:39 pace

I don't know about this kilometer stuff. It looks like I ran really fast. Bogota closes several main streets every Sunday for bikers/runners. People were definitely interested in my fivefingers. FY... read more

    great Bogota 9.85 km 01:06 10:46 pace

I imagine: "I was walking to work today and saw the strangest thing. A giant gringo (Richie) ran by me, and another giant gringo (Me) was chasing him."

  8. RUN
    good Dayton 5.58 mi 00:43 07:42 pace

Only had an orange and a cup of peppermint tea before--ran out of gas. Picked up some brutal goatheads--minimal shoes is as close to barefoot as I'd want to be out here.

great Dayton: the west side 6 mi

Run with Joel on the other side of the river. Second, and by far longest run in the Minimus; still love them. Joel got a pair of Merrell Trail gloves at the REI garage sale for $25. We both had lig... read more

alright Dayton: home to stoplight 6.5 mi 01:00 09:09 pace

Fivefingers. Lots of sidewalk with pebbles all over from recent resurfacing. Muscles felt good, but my feet really started to hurt after about 4 miles. I had to walk a little.

  13. RUN
    great Dayton 6.3 mi 00:52 08:15 pace

I miss my canyons and university, but I love my Dayton foothills. Nice cool, cloudy morning.

I may actually be doing some observations at the school with the Spanish teachers tomorrow, but I want to go to yoga on Thursday if you are. I went last night at the gym and it kicked my ass. See you soon, one way or another.

Well, I don't have any particular minimal shoe recommendations (ask Turi!), but I did want to agree with you on regular plodding running shoes! After running in Vibrams for a year, everything else feels way too clunky...

  16. RUN

I ran right through the Hot August Nights parade preparation in the North parking lot of UNR. All miles this week were in fivefingers, and I love it!

  17. RUN
great University grass patching 4.5 mi 00:39 08:34 pace

Another fun run. Did pullups at on the bars outside Lombardi. This makes almost 18 miles in fivefingers this week--guess how my calves feel.

Nice! You're certainly building up :)
Soon your calves won't know the difference between shoes and 5 fingers.

Me and Joel, fivefingers, tried to run on grass as much as possible, which meant jumping over things and taking the path least traveled. Lots of fun.

I love running in the grass! :) When I run at my aunt's house in LA, I circle the block on the outside of the sidewalk where they have a nice strip of grass & trees (to weave in & out of) separating it from the street. I definitely forget about being tired and hot! :)

It's kind of interesting to run in the negative space, the places that you're not really supposed to be. All the sidewalks and roads lead you someplace, whereas the grass is just there. It makes you look at one of the most familiar places in a new way. We're probably doing it again today.
