1.5 warm-up + 3 miles Fartlek's + 1.5 cool down/run home. Fartlek's were on an incline/hill. Love this type of speed work. Angela W. kicked it. Her Age Division better watch out...she is coming after ya!

*snicker* you said fartlek ... Yes, I am 12 ... oh good job

try this one.....800 race pace, 300 easy, 300 race pace, 200 easy...repeat three times without resting between sets......great 5K workout that I use to do with a trainer who was top 20 at boston 3 times......

Jim - I have done that sequence. My speed work for 2011 was only Fartlet's last year. One reason I love Fartlek's - you are always moving, there are not rest breaks or walk to another point. You are moving the entire time. I dropped 8+ minutes off my 5K time. Now, I incorporate Fartlek's and track work, for variety.
