After taking almost 1 month completely off and running very few miles for another couple, I finally started running some miles again. Ran 20-25 miles a week with my XC guys during the summer, and... read more

PF Changs RnR marathon 19.4 mi 02:13 06:51 pace
Yeah, I was a DNF. Forty-eight hours later and I still can't grasp that thought! I have such regret for stopping. The issue was my left hamstring that I injured about 18 months ago. I ran ... read more

Decent run. Cruised for the first 6, then picked it up while daydreaming about the marathon! Thirteen days to go!

good Granada Park 10 mi 01:01 06:05 pace
A good effort 2 weeks out from the marathon. Ran negative splits (6:08 out, 6:03 back). Held back a little, pushing the last 2 miles a little more at 5:59 and 5:55. Hope I'm ready to go!

Comfortable pace. Picked it up a little the last 3 or 4 miles. Are any other Arizona DMers going to the Bandido 10 miler on Saturday?

good Paseo Park 7 mi 00:52 07:27 pace
Easy run today. Need to decide if I should run my MP run tomorrow or race a 10 miler on Saturday. That would be 15 days out from my marathon. Is that too close? Any suggestions?

Go for the 10-miler. Great trainer for RnR AZ. Race or just run ... depending on how you feel.

good neighborhood run 3 mi
Just shaking out the legs after yesterdays long run. Plus, I don't creep up into the 60's very often, so the easy 3 got me there!

good Paseo / Skunk Creek 18.38 mi 02:08 06:58 pace
A pretty decent run this morning. Pushed the last half a little (6:52 avg.), but still pretty comfortable. Those carb heavy dinners on Thursday and Friday really helped!

Sorry to hear you had hamstring troubles and pulled out. Use it as fuel for your next race!

It might be hard to tell right now whether you could've kept going or if it was good that you stopped. You'll never know what would've happened had you continued on. Maybe the hamstring just would've gotten worse and you still could've been a DNF or on the couch with a major injury. Hope the hamstring isn't as bad since you stopped and that you can take care of it and shoot for some of your other target races this year, as well as another marathon sometime down the road.
