Faster than it looks 10.08 mi 01:30 08:56 pace

First of all, I will wish good luck to everyone racing tomorrow. Go earn your turkey.

I am continuing with this HR training thing, so I am going as slow as I have to so I can keep my HR under 150... read more

Very solid after the warm up. That 9.75 miles would have been much harder without that slow first mile. There is a method to the madness.

HR training is SO hard. I've tried it and usually get so frustrated I give up. Maybe you are onto something. I wonder if you'd get a consistently lower rate if you raise it more quickly and then settle in? Any medical people on DM know?

    Recovery run 7.02 mi 01:06 09:26 pace

Forgot the HRM, so just went really slow (10:25) for the first mile based on my experience last week. My right leg was very tight the whole run. I tried to take it easy, but it never quite subsid... read more

  3. RUN
Big Creek Greenway 16.15 mi 02:26 09:04 pace

I can't remember the last time I did 16 miles. It has been a while. Still trying the heart rate thing, so my first mile sucked once again. I had to do a 12:47 to keep my HR under 150. Run ... read more

  4. RUN
First attempt at HR 10 mi 01:31 09:03 pace

This was my first run using the HR zones that I set yesterday. The goal was 10 miles in zone 2. For the first three quarters of a mile or so this meant almost walking. My average pace was an 8:5... read more

  5. RUN
Lactate Threshold Test 6.85 mi 00:53 07:41 pace

This was originally scheduled for Monday, but the Greenway was flooded. Started with 20 minutes easy to warm up. Then ran 30 minutes as fast as possible. LTHR is the average of the last 20 minut... read more

Nice Chris. I look forward to following how it works for you. I've never done it.

I based my zones off a 5K I ran this summer- I figured that was kind of like running 20 mins as fast as I can. My Z2 is 145-155- but I know gender/ age plays a factor. 141-150 sounds right for you. I have found HR training to be the most frustrating yet rewarding type of training, if that makes any sense:). Have fun!

    Plan B 7.2 mi 01:01 08:29 pace

My original plan was to do a lactate threshold test with my HRM. I wanted to do it on a nice flat course so that pace and heart rate would be relatively in sync. However, when I got to the Greenw... read more

    Greenway 14.27 mi 02:10 09:04 pace

I forced myself to skip my usual morning coffee and get out relatively early this morning. My legs have felt fatigued since yesterday, so I expected this run to be slower than usual. After a coup... read more

    Lunch run 6.22 mi 00:54 08:43 pace

I have been running this week, but I haven't had any time to post. Got out for my usual lunch route. The temperature was 36. It's going to take some getting used to the cold again.

  9. RUN
    Greenway 14.01 mi 02:01 08:37 pace

I got a late start today because I stayed up too late and drank too much last night. A run seems to be a very good cure for a hangover, though. After the first couple of miles, I felt great. I e... read more

I wish I could say that I intentionally turned off the gadgets today. I was in a rush to get out the door this morning and forgot my Garmin. At least I brought socks.

First run post B2B. I could still feel some soreness in my legs today so I kept the pace easy.
