  4. RUN
    20 mi

20 miler. Pushed miles 18 and 19 hard to see what's going on in the leg speed department. Was very very disappointed in what I saw. I can't train like this and not find any gears ... ... read more

That conditions are not the best to finish a long run, I also know it well. The last miles are horrible and each step is an ordeal.

Thanks Brenda! I'll give it through week 12 and then do a proper Speedwork session midweek when I am ready and relaxed, not at the end of a 20 miler.

It's just 9 weeks into a build. After a long layoff, you have to give it a little time. You'll find it again, I don't doubt it.

You have to make sure you get exta rest Joan. I don't sleep well durning the day or nap, but I do try and get horizontal for 45 minutes and shut down all systems. Also, keep in mind all the evening runs are done at full recovery pace.

Yes I do indeed get tired. The two days after the LR are sometimes a little rough, I have to watch for things like quick temper, anxiousness, too high of HR. All those indicate overtraining as I am sure your aware.

Even resting during the day this kind of training is for pros. Awesome base program.

I was thinking about ditching speedwork today as it just seems too risky at the mileage I'll be hitting. Now I've made up my mind. Go for the base, everything else will work itself out right now.

Base always comes first, everything else is gravy. I won't run anything hard until I have my 12 week base in.

  14. RUN
