      The folks who were burning tires on the road are the local villagers and not some anti social elements :-) I got down and took my bike over the thorns they had put and clipped it and went towards the base. There were cops too. Anyway maybe they saw my bandage and blood and didn't harm me as i was already hurt :-)

    Uphill/downhill on a roadbike in torrential rains. Road horrribly degraded on a steep downhill - walked that 2+km downhill stretch. Loads of fun.

      again? didn't you do a mys-bangalore a few weeks ago? or is it the same ride you are posting on DM? I've just started getting back regular exercise and hope to be back on the saddle soon. Will accompany you then :)

      These days I work off Mysore during the weekdays, so use the cycle to commute occasionally. I'm running the TCS 10k this year. I did the Mysore - Bangalore route on April 5th, was actually faster that time on the saddle, but took less time overall on Friday.

      Well I actually was checking how much time it would take for me to use my cycle if I ride fast. I used the volvo bus for going to mysore with my foldie to cover the distance to the bus and the stretch from the bus to my place in Mysore. That took me 5 hrs, 30 mins. This one too 6 hours, 20 minutes (including breaks). 40 mins extra

    Eventually ditched the brevet. Lack of sleep and intense heat made it too painful. Took a bus from Palamner.

      I was surprised at that Chiddu. Was a lot of suffering for me too but after 3/4th in, its equally tough to bail. Couldn't you have taken a sleep break and continued?

      It depends. All the previous brevets I had thoroughly enjoyed and was under no time pressure. This time, the fun factor had gone, and I was simply in a race to the next control. I could have taken a sleep break, but had tried many times in the night to sleep unsuccessfully. And , I would have had to ride another 5 hours in the sun at a good pace, again found myself in motivation to do that. It wasn't a spur of the moment decision. I thought about it for a few hours before letting go.

    Exhausted. Battered, Quads,pelvic muscles, lower back very very stiff. Longest ride on my Sport1. On a route simply not meant for road bikes.
