You mean you don't wear a lamp with your fuel belt in the mornings? ;)

What moron would choose to live in Sweden anyway? Is that even a real place? Nice 6.

Really pretty morning... Not a cloud in the sky... Just stars. Of course it was also cold. Realized yesterday I haven't missed a run since X-mas day. 200+ miles for the month. Not bad.

    • Alain C.

I follow your SBS for years now and realise that you have eased up on the pace a bit on average. Is this a conscious decision?

      Wayne W.

After how many miles do you replace your shoes? My next run will put me over 400 and I am not sure how long I should push it. At 204 pounds my guess is that it should be before 450 if not earlier. This is the first time that I have kept good track of the mileage. (Can thank DM for that)

I do it by feel... generally speaking I start looking to retire shoes around 450 miles or so... But it just depends on how the shoe feels under foot. If I can start feeling seams in the pavement or individual pieces of gravel, it's time. But I've retired shoes as early as 350 miles, and I recently had a pair I put nearly 700 on. It just depends.

Good to know. Maybe I will start alternating with my next pair (bought 2 pair last time) and see how they compare. Last pair I went too long (I think) and got runners knee as a result. Like to avoid that fate but not throw these out too early either.

You must have some muddy shoes this morning. I ran to the greenway yesterday (Rae road side) and turned around where the trail went under Elm. There must have been 30 feet of mud and water that I needed to traverse, so I turned around and improvised.

Wimp. Yes, 30 feet sounds about right, but it's at most a couple inches deep... Easily traversable. Yaknow you coulda just crossed over Elm. There's an entrance on the other side of the road so you coulda avoided what's under the bridge... Although you would have encountered more muck another quarter mile up the boardwalk. But a little mud never hurt anyone. I come home with muddy shoes most mornings these days.

Wimp is right. I would never be able to do one of those "Warrior Dash" runs either.

After the fact I realized that I could have just crossed at street level, but figured if there was mud here that this would be just the first of many problem areas that I would have to negotiate.

Yeh, it's a bit monotonous... But that's not an excuse to not do it. It's dark when I run, and I only have a fairly small window to get a run in, so my options at the moment are a bit limited. When it starts getting light again I'll have a couple more routes available...
