Another perfect running morning... Felt good even after a full day of yardwork and car washing/waxing yesterday.

Nice Chaz! Funny how that "cross-training" takes a lot out of you. Enjoy the weekend!

I'm guessing you're training for another marathon with these big mileage weeks. Or are you just enjoying the weather?

@Stephen no... I'm pretty much retired from marathons until further notice.

Wow... What a morning! Just a hint of fall with cool crisp air and a nice blue sky. The greenway, not surprisingly, was PACKED... mostly with iPod-class runners... But one of the bigger crowds th... read more

I'm on Team Chaz when it comes to iPod wearing. I think it's important to be mentally engaged in the actual run, and it's the boredom that comes from disengagement that iPods solve.

I do wear an iPod when I'm stuck on a treadmill or stationary bike because I find it so difficult to stay engaged in the workout.

Question of the day: Describe your first Marathon.... How did it go? What did you like about it, what did you hate about it? Did you ever hit the wall? Would you do it again, why?Ack!  It was Grand... read more

While it's unfortunate that you had that experience, know that it helps me not make the same mistakes for my first one in October :D

MUCH cooler this morning. Still juicy humidity, but there was just a hint of fall. I *almost* wore a shirt... But let's not get crazy now...

Had to do this workout solo, which is tough... It's easy to throttle back and daydream when you're getting tired... But... 6 x 800 w/400 recoveries... 2.47, 2.43, 2.46, 2.47, 2.48, 2.48. Obviously... read more

Nice Workout, Chaz. I hope all is well in North Carolina. I'm glad to see you are still blazing the ole running trail. God Bless You and Your-Family Is My Prayer..+ Your Friend, Jimmy. ( = PS: I have been so down and out with my recent seperation, but I have been running a little, still nothing really fast, but enjoying every easy mile. I hope to get my internet turned back on at home when I get paid this week. If so I will start posting my workouts. For now I never get to the local library that much.

You cranking up all this mileage for the relay?

No... last week was really accidental mileage... I didn't realize how much I had logged until I did the math on Saturday. Went 8 today only because humidity was down and it wasn't too uncomfortable.

To work-out pain free. Listen to my body, stop when it says stop. I don't take Ibuprufen to complete my training plan. I skip, let heal and try to understand why I suddenly felt pain somewhere.

In this way I was able to move from walking with crutches in september 2009 to finishing an Ironman 9 months later in eleven and a half hour. That is my biggest lesson learnt

I run/walk on a treadmill, uneven surfaces are not my friend, I've found when running it's harder to run slow than run fast. What I mean is try upping the speed sometimes. Your run speed might be faster than you think, I feel like I'm dragging when I run too slow and exert more effort trying to slow down for treadmill.
