  1. RUN
good BLT trail/Cuddly Coyote Trials 16.34 km 01:33 09:10 pace

Ran 10 km on rails to trails to the single-track trail run and then did that. Felt good, like I could have gone longer. Been a bit lax on miles this week, but ran a hard half on Sunday, 10 miles on... read more

  2. RUN
    alright South End/Waterfront 16.45 km 01:18 07:39 pace

Considering I ran a hard half on Sunday, this wasn't a bad run at all.

  3. RUN
blah Blue Nose Half Marathon 21 km 01:32 07:04 pace

Finally over my disappointment enough to post this race. Faded badly from kilometres 13 to 17 and it cost me a better time. I ran too strongly in the early miles and paid for it later. 6th out of m... read more

  4. RUN
alright Ball Park Trails 10.48 km 01:14 11:23 pace

A little long for a true recovery run, but I kept the pace light and came out of it feeling much better and invigorated compared to when I began. So it worked.

  5. RUN
alright Rails to trails/Bluff Trail 14.69 km 01:32 10:03 pace

Ran 7 km on the rails to trails at 4:53/km pace and then did the remainder of the run with the Halifax Trail Running Club on the significantly more technical first loop of the Bluff Trail. Beautifu... read more

No taper for you this week! Then again, you're not racing at the Blue Nose are you Charles? Or then again, maybe you will ??

I'm conflicted because I want to stick to my marathon plan, but I also want to test myself. Definitely feeling the miles of the last couple of weeks right now.

Well done on the run. Says on their site that they have walk-in registration the day before the race. That's great! Now if the runners going by my daughter's condo can smile a lot, she just might start running. If you run it, smile Charles. Thanks! :+D

  6. RUN
    alright Point Pleasant Park/Waterfront 21.01 km 01:40 07:39 pace

Another Tuesday, another half-marathon run in training. Windy and not so warm out there this evening. Thank heavens for friends to drag my fat butt along.

  7. RUN
alright South End/North End Halifax 16.01 km 01:19 07:57 pace

Definitely feeling this run today after yesterday's trail race, but I got my miles in and hit 90 km for the week again, for the second week in a row.

Yeah, I never doubted she wouldn't. It will be interesting to talk to her: she missed her intended time by two minutes, so I'm looking forward to hearing her race report.

  8. RUN
good Wascally Wabbit Trail Race 23.28 km 02:12 09:09 pace

Felt pretty good about this race. Used it as my long training run this week, although it's short about five km what I should have run, but being on the trail makes up for that. Two lap course:... read more

  9. RUN
tired BLT trail 8.01 km 00:41 08:14 pace

What should have been a recovery run turned into a depletion run. At 5 km, I totally ran out of glycogen and struggled the last three km just to keep moving. Hope that's not how I feel during ... read more

  10. RUN
good Bluff Trail 8.01 km 01:09 13:49 pace

Recovery run on the highly technical Bluff Trail. Sounds contradictory, but I took it really easy tonight. Legs feel good to go for tomorrow again.

  11. RUN
    alright Bedford 13.39 km 01:06 07:59 pace

Relatively easy miles, although I ran 5 X 1 km intervals at approximately 4:40/km pace and the first one at 4:12/km pace.

  12. RUN
    alright South end/waterfront/central ... 21.01 km 01:39 07:34 pace

Tough run tonight. I was still feeling a bit sore from last week's volume and the wind was up. Thank goodness for good friends to keep the conversation light and the pace honest.

  13. RUN
good Dartmouth loop 24.01 km 01:56 07:46 pace

What a fabulous day for a run. Faded slightly on a hill in Point Pleasant Park at 22 km, but came back and finished out strong.

  14. RUN
    alright Waterfront-South End 11.01 km 00:54 07:52 pace

Another "easy" run. The miles are accumulating in this, my first week of marathon training. I feel tired all the time though and hungry too. Long run tomorrow. Wooooo....

  15. RUN
alright Rails to trails, Upper Tantallon 14.02 km 01:08 07:47 pace

I'm actually pleased with this run since I didn't feel like going since I was feeling generally tired and my legs felt heavy. But I got focused, got out, did it. 13 km with 10 strides. I ... read more

  16. RUN
alright St. Margaret's Bay trails 11.18 km 01:18 11:15 pace

Supposed to be my recovery run on the trails. Instead, we ended up climbing Grouse Grind (500 m) and then nearly getting lost and doing an extra four km as a result.

Well, I still want to be able to run trail, but the runs are often too short to fit my training, plus the runs are slower than and more anaerobic, so I'm trying to fit them into my easy and recovery run days.

  19. RUN
great South End loop 18.71 km 01:24 07:13 pace

Spring at last! Shorts and short sleeves for the first time this year. First day of marathon training. Happy with the way it went.

  20. RUN
alright Bluff Trail 8.01 km 00:58 11:40 pace

Legs too burned out from pacing the kids through seven races yesterday, so I couldn't face the idea of my long wrong. Hit the trail instead. Rush hour there: jammed with walkers.
