Beautiful day for a race! Ran this half as a training run, so I was planning on doing 9-min pace. I don't think I'll run any more races as a training run. I was too caught up with the competitive nature and ran a bit too fast. Maybe I can call this a tempo run? However, I did make a friend after mile 2 and we chatted until about the 10k point. It was awesome because I thought the talking would keep my pace slower, but we were clipping along at ~8:35 pace. I was thinking "If I can keep this up for 26.2 miles in October, I am in good shape!" I think shortly after I met Linda, Liz T. joined us! It was great to run with her until we split up at about mile 7.
The bad news was that I didn't get a chance to use the port-a-potties before the race. I waited in line for 20 minutes before finally giving up. You should've seen the line - RIDIC. And the line for gear check was crazy long, too. Luckily, I checked my stuff before getting in line for the bathroom. So basically, I had to hold my pee until mile 11. I thought I was gonna burst.
The headwind going back north was pretty bad (15 mph?), but I still managed to maintain good form and a decent pace. I took a GU Roctane at mile 7. Side stitch started at mile 10 - maybe I need salt?
Interesting tidbit. I think this ties as my 2nd best half (1:54:33 at 2009 Indy Mini. My PR is 1:51:47)
Had brunch with lots of Twitter friends after the race. The best was Jordan A. (@jor_dash) asking "OK, who is the faster runner between us?" LOL!!

nice pace Chanthana! I'd really have a hard time controlling my pace in a race, so I doubt a training run/race would work for me. Love the write-up :)

Outstanding Run! Yeah... have to go with 'Tempo Run' on any race you want as training - competition and running easy never mix....
Re Restroom line..... it's good to be a man..
